Head to Head
Lala Retro vs Bora Barrier: Whipped Ceramides or the Full Lipid Reserve?
Drunk Elephant's two rich creams compared: Lala Retro Whipped Cream and Bora Barrier Repair Cream, on lipid depth, texture, format and the skin each one is really for.

The richest cream the brand makes: a 6-Butterlipid complex for skin that cannot hold moisture
Where They Differ
Lipid depth and formula story
Lala Retro is a ceramide story: a triple ceramide blend printed on the jar, phytosphingosine, and five African oils including marula and mongongo giving the whipped cream its weight. Bora Barrier is a lipid reserve story: a 6-Butterlipid complex, glucosyl ceramide positioned to support the skin's own ceramide production, ceramides AP, NP and EOP, and zinc and copper gluconates with alpha glucan, none of which appear in Lala's published profile. The difference is depth and architecture, not a better or worse version of one cream.
Texture and daily wear
Lala whips and melts: rich, but light enough that dry skin wears it under makeup once it has settled for a minute. Bora is buttery and denser, absorbing well for its weight but still the cream most owners schedule at night or on makeup free days in winter. On combination skin the gap widens: Lala becomes a night cream, Bora becomes a spot and season cream.
Format and routine role
Lala comes in a 50ml jar, scooped. Bora comes in a 50ml refillable pump, dosed at one pump and designed to be refilled rather than repurchased whole. Their roles follow: Lala is the household moisturizer, including its second job as the buffer cream over Framboos and A-Passioni. Bora is the recovery moisturizer, kept for the mornings and weeks when the household cream is not holding.

Questions, Answered
Can Bora Barrier replace my night cream and my eye cream too?
As a night cream, yes, that is its home slot. Around the eyes it is a rich cream near a delicate area; the line's dedicated eye product in this hub, C-Tango, is built for that territory with its own vitamin C and peptide profile. Use Bora up to the orbital bone by all means, but it is not an eye cream substitute by design.
