How this review was made: from the manufacturer's published formula and specifications, the live Amazon listing, and recurring themes in owner commentary. Eclat Press does not claim hands-on testing it has not done, and publishes no scores.

No. 1

Purslane, skullcap and the anti-inflammatory inspiration

The house was founded by an aesthetics doctor whose research background is in anti-inflammatory medicine, and the line's published positioning is non aggressive skincare. In this cream that translates to purslane extract, rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants as the brand presents it, and skullcap, a botanical long used in calming formulas, at the head of a comfort deck of squalane, shea butter, corn oil, glycerine, panthenol and vitamin E, all printed on the listing. Nothing in the deck is exotic, and that is the design: the cosmetic promise is skin that looks calmer and feels hydrated and firm through the day, with visible signs of irritation soothed rather than stimulated.

No. 2

Texture and the plain white jar

The cream absorbs quickly, leaves a radiant but not greasy finish, and behaves under makeup and over serums without pilling in owner reports. The jar is white, printed plainly, and made in Germany, and it divides owners precisely as minimalism always does: half read it as clinical confidence, half as underwhelming at the tier. This review sides with the first reading, with a caveat: a jar format still asks for clean hands, and a house this hygiene conscious could make the pump argument as well as Augustinus Bader does.

What owners report, including the ceiling

Calm is the word owners return to: skin feeling comfortable, hydrated and unbothered, with reactive leaning owners describing it as the prestige cream that never starts an argument. The ceiling is equally consistent. Very dry skin owners migrate to the Face Cream Rich, some owners go through the jar faster than expected because the light texture invites generosity, and active hunters find the formula quiet. All three complaints are the philosophy's shadow, and a buyer who shares the philosophy will recognise them as the cost of the benefit.

Every other prestige cream in this topic argues by addition: another complex, another precious extract, another story.

In Owners' Hands

Recurring themes, in aggregate and without numbers we cannot stand behind.

What owners praise

  • Skin feeling calm, hydrated and comfortable without heaviness is the dominant theme
  • Owners with reactive leaning skin describe it as the prestige cream that never starts an argument
  • The quick absorption and clean finish under makeup get repeated praise

What owners question

  • Dry skin owners move to the Rich version within a season
  • Some owners find the plain packaging underwhelming at the tier
  • A few note they use more per application than expected, shortening the jar's life

Consider Instead

Augustinus Bader The Cream 50ml blue pump bottle with copper cap beside a cream smear, bottle reading 50ml 1.7 fl oz

Augustinus Bader The Cream 50ml

Choose Bader The Cream instead if you want an exclusive system and a pump, and your skin tolerates a more ambitious deck in exchange

Cle de Peau Beaute La Creme faceted gold jar on its white and gold presentation stand

Clé de Peau Beauté La Crème 1.7 fl oz

Choose La Crème instead if your night brief is indulgence and ceremony, and your skin is calm enough not to need the Sturm restraint

Questions, Answered

Is the Sturm Face Cream fragrance free?

The listing's published active deck carries no fragrance entry, and the house positions the line as non aggressive and calming. Buyers for whom fragrance is a medical rather than cosmetic question should still read the full ingredient list on the listing before ordering, as formulations are the brand's to update.

Face Cream or Face Cream Rich?

They are texture siblings on separate listings. The Face Cream reviewed here is the lighter original, for normal, combination and reactive leaning skin, day and night. The Rich version adds a denser lipid load for dry to very dry skin. Choose by skin, not by the assumption that richer means better.
