Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum Review: Vitamin C With a Peptide and an AHA in Support
A full review of the Dermalogica BioLumin-C Serum: the ultra stable vitamin C complex, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, lactic acid, and who should choose a different serum.

How this review was made: from the manufacturer's published formula and specifications, the live Amazon listing, and recurring themes in owner commentary. Eclat Press does not claim hands-on testing it has not done, and publishes no scores.
Three jobs in one dropper
Most vitamin C serums stop at antioxidant brightening. This formula's printed structure is broader: an ultra stable vitamin C complex, where stability is the practical point, since oxidized vitamin C helps no one; a peptide, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, aimed at the look of firmness; and lactic acid, an AHA, for surface renewal, supported by Sophora Japonica flower extract and chia seed oil. Each element is modest alone. Together they explain why owners describe both glow and a smoother feel rather than glow alone.
Texture and the full dropper question
The printed dose is a full dropper over face and neck, morning and night, after toning and before moisturizing. That surprises users of two drop serums, and it is worth taking literally for the first bottle: under dosing a treatment serum and judging it is the most common false negative in skincare. The texture itself is light and layers cleanly, with owners reporting no pilling under moisturizer or makeup as a recurring theme.
What owners keep saying
Praise concentrates on brightness described as looking more awake, and on skin feeling smoother, which is the lactic acid making itself known. Complaints concentrate on pace, the look of dark spots changes gradually, on a brief tingle in the first applications, and on the bottle's pace of use at the printed dose. None of the recurring complaints concern texture or layering, which for a twice daily serum is the compliment that matters most.
BioLumin-C is the most complete treatment serum in this catalogue because it refuses to be only a vitamin C product.
From the verdict
In Owners' Hands
Recurring themes, in aggregate and without numbers we cannot stand behind.
What owners praise
- Skin is described as looking brighter and more awake within weeks
- The light texture layers cleanly under moisturizer and makeup
- Owners like that one serum covers both glow and firmness concerns
What owners question
- Some owners report a brief tingle from the lactic acid at first
- The full dropper dose surprises people used to two drops of other serums
- Results on the look of dark spots are described as gradual
Consider Instead

Dermalogica PowerBright Dark Spot Serum 1 fl oz
If defined dark spots, not general dullness, are the concern, PowerBright's niacinamide and hexylresorcinol are the specialist tool

Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum 1 fl oz
If brightness is handled and the goal shifts to long term preservation and visibly plumper looking skin
Questions, Answered
Can I use BioLumin-C with my other exfoliating products?
Carefully. The serum itself contains lactic acid, so stacking it over a strong AHA toner or peel in the same routine is where irritation usually starts. Most routines do better giving BioLumin-C the exfoliating role on its days and keeping other acids separate, and any new layering should be introduced gradually.
Morning, night, or both?
The printed direction is both: a full dropper over cleansed face and neck, morning and night, after toning and before moisturizing. The morning application is where the antioxidant framing matters most, under moisturizer and, ideally, an SPF step.
